Notation/Rating/Samples:
Ed1 : Vinyl Camilio Records ref CAM5-2021 (2014)
Vinyl is a very nice pressing (thank’s RTI), the sound is very dynamic with very low surface noise.
The balance is similar for all releases, with a very pleasant result with the piano and the voice. We find the quality and natural of the vinyl.
- Ratting :
- Dynamic: ●●●●o (4/5)
- Spectrum: ●●●●● (5/5)
- Surface noise: ●●●●o (4/5)
- Restitution: ●●●●o (4.5/5)
Ed2 : CD Camilio Records ref CAM2-4335 (2014)
Listening confirms the measures, the CD comes directly from the master 24/96. The rendering is very clean, but with a little less depth than vinyl and Hi-Res digital files.
- Rating :
- Dynamic: ●●●●o (4/5)
- Spectrum: ●●●●o (4/5)
- Restitution: ●●●●o (4/5)
Ed3 : Hi-rez Digital Files 24/96 (2014)
No surprise, the Hi-Res version lives up to the expectations. It is by construction the closest version to 24/96 digital recording. There is no noise, only music, with a very good rendering of instruments and Anne Bisson’s voice.
- Rating:
- Dynamic: ●●●●o (4/5)
- Spectrum: ●●●●● (5/5)
- Restitution: ●●●●o (4.5/5)
*The level has been adjusted to have the same RMS level for an easier comparison.
The choice between the 3 editions is a question of preference between digital and vinyl. For the purists, the recording being in digital, the Hi-Res version is required.
However, for the vinyl lovers, it is a very beautiful pressing which will make it possible to be pleased with Anne Bisson’s piano and voice. Just one thing is missing, all the tracks are not available on vinyl (maybe in a future double LP edition).
