To celebrate the 50th anniversary of his legendary album Oxygène, Jean-Michel Jarre is orchestrating an exceptional comeback through three major, complementary projects. The pioneer of electronic music has announced his new immersive world tour, titled OXYGENE & BEYOND, featuring three highly anticipated concerts at La Seine Musicale from October 14 to 16, 2027.
At the same time, the cult album is being reissued in a collector’s edition remastered at Abbey Road by Miles Showell, with a Dolby Atmos mix by David Kosten, Steven Wilson, and Jean-Michel Jarre.
This anniversary edition will be available starting November 20, 2026, on vinyl, CD, and Blu-ray.
Finally, this anniversary will be commemorated by the November 12, 2026, release of his book MACHINES, which traces the history of electronic instruments.
This global celebration will continue into 2027 with the release of a brand-new, previously unreleased studio album.

Summary, scoring and Samples
Ed 1: Apple Dolby Atmos – 2026
Presentation
This is the Apple Dolby Atmos presented in Dolby Digital Plus at 768 kbits/s.

Spatialization:
The spatialization SP of Apple Dolby Atmos – 2026 version is 7.9.
The spatialization SK of Apple Dolby Atmos – 2026 version is 8.4.
Spatialization SP: ●●●●●●●●oo (7.9) , SK: ●●●●●●●●oo (8.4)
Waveform and Spectrum: DR13
The waveform of the Apple Dolby Atmos – 2026 shows a high range confirmed with DR13.
The spectrogram of the Tidal Dolby Atmos track in 9.1.6 is limited to 20 kHz , with no signal beyond that point . This limitation comes from Dolby Digital Plus compression, which uses lossy encoding to reduce bandwidth and fit a 768 kbps bitrate. The LFE channel is filtered at 120Hz with a low-pass filter.

The graph below represents the spectrum of the Apple Dolby Atmos – 2026.
The spectrum of Dolby Atmos version decoded in 9.1.6 shows that all channels are used. The white arrow indicates the high-frequency limit at 20 kHz due to Dolby Digital Plus encoding. The high-frequency is limited at 24 kHz due to encoding at the 48 kHz sampling frequency used.

Synthesis and listening
Jean-Michel Jarre’s electronic music lends itself very well to a Dolby Atmos mix, especially since this mix was created in collaboration with David Kosten, Steven Wilson, and Jean-Michel Jarre.
It’s a real success on this first track, which was released via streaming ahead of the anniversary date.
You’re truly immersed in the album, with sound that surrounds you and moves all around you, this first track is a true showcase of the Dolby Atmos mix. All channels are fully utilized in a 360-degree space.
It’s likely to become one of the best Dolby Atmos albums of 2026, especially since a Dolby Atmos TrueHD version will be available on Blu-ray.

Ed 2: Apple Music – 2026
Presentation
This is the Apple Music version presented in lossless 24bits 96 kHz format.

Waveform and Spectrum: DR11
The waveform of the Apple Music – 2026 version shows a good dynamic range confirmed with DR11.
The spectrogram shows that the bandwidth does not rise above 48 kHz and no signal above. This is due to the 96 kHz sampling frequency used for the CD.

The graph below represents the spectrum of the Apple Music – 2026.
The stereo version is based on a sampling frequency of 96 kHz, limiting the bandwidth to 48 kHz.

Synthesis and listening
This stereo remaster appears to offer a new version that should best preserve the album’s dynamics, which is certainly the case with this first track, and we hope will hold true for the entire album. This first track sounds great and suggests that this 50th-anniversary edition will undoubtedly be the finest reissue yet.
Rating:
- Dynamic: ●●●oo (3.5)
- Bandwidth: ●●●●o (4)
- Restitution: ●●●●o (4)
This preview gives us a first look at this new special anniversary edition, featuring a Dolby Atmos version that already stands as a benchmark for immersive mixing in this genre of electronic music.
The remastered stereo version is also very well done, with excellent dynamic range.
This first track suggests that this 50th-anniversary edition will be of very high quality, available on Blu-ray, CD, and vinyl.
Dynamic Range measurements are shown below.

Dynamic Range comparaisons
Dynamic represents the ability to reproduce a wide range of sounds from the softest to the loudest. The target is to compare the dynamics of the music and not of the media (CD, digital files or vinyl).
For our 2 editions reviewed have obtained the following Dynamic Range (DR) :
| Apple Dolby Atmos – 2026 | Apple Music – 2026 | |
| Global | DR13 | DR11 |
| Min | DR13 | DR11 |
| Max | DR13 | DR11 |
| Jean-Michel Jarre – Oxygene, Pt. 1 (2026 Remaster) | DR13 | DR11 |
As a reminder, the scale goes from 0 to more 20, but the dynamics are considered good from 12, quite good between 10 and 11, and deteriorate below 10.
Detail of the ratings :
- Dynamic :
- Significant dynamic compression, DR less than 7
- Compression of the present dynamics, DR between 7 and 9.
- Correct piece DR >=10
- No dynamic compression (DR >12), dynamic rendering
- No dynamic compression, high DR and very dynamic sound rendering
- Spectrum :
- Spectrum cut and less than 15 khz
- Spectrum cut at 15 khz
- Spectrum not conforming to the original and cut (not HD) or original but limited bandwidth (but less than 20 kHz)
- Spectrum conforming to the original (but not HD)
- Spectrum conforming to the original with HD resolution (higher than 24kHz)
- Surface noise (only for vinyl):
- Continuous audible noise
- Audible surface noise except on passages with a high level of noise
- Reduced surface noise, barely audible on low level crossings
- Low surface noise, very good quality
- Very low surface noise, no defects, almost inaudible on the quiet passages (exceptional disc)
- Spatialization :
- Between 0 and 5 for 5.1 or 7.1 channels configuration
- Between 0 and 10 for Atmos configuration (7.1.4)
- For more information on spatialization, you can read the article describing this parameter here.
- Restitution :
- Low quality of the restitution mixing dynamics, clarity, separation of voices and instruments.
- Average quality of the restitution mixing dynamics, clarity, separation of voices and instruments.
- Quality of the restitution mixing dynamics, clarity, separation of voices and instruments. Good record.
- High quality of the restitution mixing dynamics, clarity, separation of voices and instruments. Very high level disc.
- Maximum quality of the restitution mixing dynamics, clarity, separation of voices and instruments. Exceptional disc.
